*Dr. Al-Marsafi: National occasions promote the values of national sense, belonging and loyalty

*Allah the Almighty has  created Man with patriotism to the country where he/she was born, educated in its schools, worked in its institutions and ate from its bounties

* Islam considers those who are killed for the sake of their countries are martyrs. The citizens should develop the country's potentials and maintain its properties.

* Kuwait is one of the pioneering countries in supporting the Islamic work and humanitarian activities in all parts of the world.

* We must support the national unity and strengthen the ties among all the people, reject division and sectarianism

Patriotism is not just resonant slogans, hollow feelings or faded signs, but it's a human nature instinct rooted in both the souls, and the conscience. It is driving to creative work that aims at boosting the country and pride of belonging to it, willingness to sacrifice for it and promoting national unity.

In this context, former Professor of Hadith and its Sciences, at the Faculty of Sharia, Kuwait University, Dr. Saad Al-Marsafi stressed the importance of the national occasions in reviving the patriotism, enhancing the value of belonging within the peoples and recalling the first struggle march, the martyrs who have evacuated the colonizer and raising the banner of freedom, security and independence flying high in the homeland sky.

Dr. Al-Marsafi - commenting on the celebrations of Kuwait National Day and Liberation Day- said Allah has created Man on the love of the homeland where he was born, educated in its schools, worked in its institutions, ate from its bounties, drank from its water, grew up on its land and associated with it in all the stages of his life as a child, youth and old guy. He stressed that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave us the finest examples in teaching his nation homeland's belonging. From the prophet's remarkable situations when Quraish dismissed him from Mecca, he stood on its outskirts and turned to its valleys, hills and mountains and said, "O! Allah knows that Mecca is the best countries of Allah to Him and to me, unless your countrymen dismissed me I wouldn't go out." In fact the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not leave his homeland unless he was forced after the Quraish men prevented him to disseminate the message of Islam. The prophet chose to migrate to Madina to raise the banner of religion. When he settled in Madina he was connected closely to it and disseminated brotherhood among the immigrants and supporters (Ansar).

Dr. Al-Marsafi added when we talk about Kuwait in its national occasions, we see that Kuwait is one of the Islamic countries that strongly supports Islamic and charitable work all over the world. It is one of the first countries to hold Islamic conferences and host scholars from all over the Islamic world. It is also one of the countries that is characterized by establishing mosques and giving them special attention. Kuwait also profoundly cares for the Houses and centers of the Holy Quran and charitable institutions significantly. All these institutions are supported by all the Kuwaitis, Amir and government.

Regarding the citizens' duty towards their homeland, Dr. Al-Marsafi said Islam is concerned with the country and considers those who are killed for defending their countries are  martyrs. The people  should pay attention to develop it, maintain its property and institutions, work for its progress, welfare, prosperity, sacrifice for its sake, combat the challenges and threats targeting it. Concerning the homeland and its place the late preacher Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ghazali, said "people get familiar with their homeland even its wilderness. Patriotism is an inherent instinct in the souls that make man feels comfort to stay in it, makes him feel homesickness if he travelled away, defend it  if it is attacked and feels angry if it is defamed. "

He emphasized that patriotism is against Islamic and faith value, some of its features are as the follows:

First: Supplicating for Allah to protect the homeland and the Islamic countries secure and prosperous, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) called for his homeland, saying: “O Allah, bless Al-Madina twice as much as Makkah”.

Second: Supporting the national unity and strengthening the ties among all the country's segments, rejecting disputes, racism, sectarianism.

Third: Securing the country, following the example of Prophet (peace be upon him) who signed a treaty between the Muslims and other inhabitants of Madina of Christians, Jews and polytheists.

Fourth: Developing the kinship ties, because Allah the Almighty says in the Holy Quran (Would ye then, if ye were given the command, work corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship? (verse 22 – Surat Muhammad.

Fifth: Dealing well with the neighbors. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "He will not enter Paradise whose neighbor is not secure from his wrongful conduct." in addition to philanthropy to his brothers of his own people, the prophet (peace be upon him) said: " "None of you will have faith till you love your neighbor as you love yourself. "

Sixth: Enhancing the value of cooperation: Allah the Almighty says in the Holy Quran (help ye one another unto righteousness and pious duty. Help not one another unto sin and transgression,).

Imam Muhammad Rashid Rida (May Allah's mercy him) had a great saying in this regard "We cooperate in what we agreed upon and excuse each other in what are disagreed upon." some scholars added to this meaning "we should discuss in what we disagreed upon. "

Seventh: Strengthening the relationship with non-Muslim partners in the homeland on the basis of kindness, justice and charity to . Allah the Almighty says in the Holy Quran, " Allah forbids you not, with regard to those  who fight you not for (your) faith nor drive you out from your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with , for Allah loveth those who are just ."

Eighth: Abandoning hatred, rancor, selfishness and opportunism, and other negative ethics, behaviors and practices.

Ninth: Defending the country against any attack that target its identity, territory or its components and protecting it against threats and risks that threaten its national unity.
